EDITOR'S LETTER
What Continues After the Experience Ends

We tend to think of recovery as something that begins once the stressor is gone. We return home from a trip, get a full night of sleep, settle back into our meals, and assume the body has returned with us.

But physiology has its own timeline.

The body is constantly responding to what came before. Sleep disruption can carry into the next day. Changes in meal timing can alter digestive rhythms. Hormones that have already been processed by the liver can still be influenced by what happens later in the gut.

The experience may be over, while the biological response continues.

This becomes especially easy to overlook when we grow accustomed to how we feel. Someone who travels often may become very efficient at crossing time zones while still noticing changes in digestion, energy, sleep, or focus. We can become familiar with a pattern without necessarily resolving what is creating it.

That distinction has changed how I think about resilience.

Resilience is not simply our ability to keep going. It also includes our capacity to return—to restore rhythm, replenish what has been used, and give the body enough space to recalibrate.

Food, sleep, movement, light, plant diversity, and moments of rest may seem ordinary, but they continually shape the environment our cells are responding to.

This is part of what #CellCare™ means to me. The body carries our experiences beyond the moments themselves. Caring for it means paying attention not only to how we move through those experiences, but also to how well we allow ourselves to recover from them.

Be Inspired,

Your Gut Is Writing Your
Your Estrogen Story
Estrogen does not simply rise and fall with the ovaries. After the body has used it, the liver prepares it for elimination—but what happens next depends partly on the gut. Dr. Bhanote examines the estrobolome, the microbial activity that can influence whether estrogen leaves the body or returns to circulation, and why this overlooked gut-hormone connection becomes especially relevant during perimenopause.
