EDITOR'S LETTER
When Your Body Knows Before You Do

There are times when the body seems to know that something has changed before we can make sense of it.

You arrive somewhere new, yet your sleep is still somewhere else. Foods you normally tolerate suddenly feel different. A lab result surprises you. Or you keep calling something stress because you do not yet have another explanation for the restless sleep, unsettled stomach, or feeling that you are not quite yourself.

I think many of us know this experience.

We may not have the language for what is happening, but we recognize the departure from how we usually feel.

Lately, I have been thinking about how quickly we try to solve that discomfort. We look for the right routine, the right food, the right metric to track. There is certainly a place for all of those things. But sometimes we move so quickly toward the solution that we miss what the experience itself might teach us.

The body is wonderfully interconnected. Digestion can change how we experience stress. The health of the gut can reach into cardiovascular function. Travel can reveal how sensitive our sleep, appetite, energy, and recovery are to changes in timing and environment.

For me, #CellCare includes making room for those observations.

Not every uncomfortable day needs to become a problem to solve. Not every fluctuation carries a deeper meaning. But when something continues to feel different, I believe it deserves our curiosity before our judgment.

Perhaps that is one of the most useful things we can learn about our health:

Before asking what you should do next, become curious about what your body is already showing you.

Gut Health and Anxiety:
How the Gut-Brain Connection May Affect Your Mood
Anxiety does not always arrive as worry. It can feel like a stomach that will not settle, restless sleep, a racing heart, or the persistent sense that something is off, even when routine testing offers no clear explanation. In this week’s Cover Story, Dr. Bhanote examines why understanding these symptoms may require looking beyond the brain and into the two-way communication between the gut, microbiome, and nervous system. From the vagus nerve and serotonin to inflammation and the body’s stress response, she explores an emerging view of mood that raises a compelling question: how much of what we experience as anxiety may also be influenced by what is happening in the gut?

#CellCare Over Self-Care: A New Way to Think About You
The wellness world has no shortage of routines telling people what to do, but the same ritual does not serve every body at every stage of life. On the Hormones, Metabolism and You! Podcast, Dr. Monisha Bhanote joins endocrinologist Dr. Cassie Smith to explore a personal approach rooted in #CellCare, cellular resilience, and recognizing what the body is communicating. From gut health and Ayurveda to circadian rhythms, travel, and changing needs, their conversation challenges the idea that wellness should follow a fixed formula. Tune in to hear why paying attention to how the body responds may be more valuable than following someone else’s version of the perfect routine.
